 Not enough sandMar 27, 2006

The kit only contains about half the sand shown in the photograph -- only enough sand to provide a light dusting of the basin and not enough to rake. The package hadn't leaked; this was the vendor's idea of an adequate amount of sand. This kit was extremely disappointing -- we felt cheated.

"Live, Love, and Laugh, everyday!"
I purchased this for a gift for my son for his birthday, I also purchased one for myself! I love it! my son loves his! We have one in his room and one on the coffee table. It is relaxing raking the sand and is just calming. People love to play with it when they visit! I thought I would have a problem with our cat, but he has not touched it or gotten into it once! He did smell it and that was it! It looks pretty sitting on the coffee table also. interseting to people. We are always rearranging it. Yes, I like my toy! The packaging for both was great, in a box, and everything was wrapped seperate so nothing would break in shipping. and the sand was in a small ziplock type bag. The box itself that it came in was perfect for giving a gift. I just put a pretty bow on it and it was done!

Cheap plastic rakeNov 05, 2008

The picture is deceiving. Firstly, I agree with one reviewer about not having enough sand, what's a zen rock garden with barely any sand to rake? Secondly, the rake is of really cheap plastic. In the picture it looks wooden, but it's not, it's poorly made of plastic and rough. It's supposed to be a soothing comforting wooden back-to-nature feel but instead it's a sore in the eye. Thirdly, the rocks are of poor quality, it's better to buy a big bag from garden store. The dish is extremely shallow too. The only good thing about this is the nice size of plate for the price. I do not recommend this product at all.

These are great little gardens for the price. We used them as gifts for people going through a job change. The idea was to help them "keep the inner peace" during that turbulent time. I loved the little temple-type rock that came in the package. All the gardens arrived in good condition and were well-received by the recipients.

I bought this for my husband because we made jokes about them. But he says it helps when he's dealing with difficult customers on the phone.
