This is a fantastic brush well worth the extremely high cost. In this video I explain how to choose a Mason Pearson brush and show you the brush itself. For additional information on picking a Mason Pearson brush, visit [...]. Note that choosing the right brush is the key to enjoying this purchase, and the Detangler is a regular brush for dry and wet hair that is long and/or coarse and/or thick. I hope this video is helpful in your buying decision!
Highly recommended.

Best Scalp Massage EverDec 19, 2010
By Knest Have had the Mason Pearson nylon/bristle version of this brush which has been excellent for thick long hair, but should not be used on wet hair. So I got this one to fill that gap, but the stimulation this thing gives to the scalp borders on the indecent. Also a great detangler.

Love my detangling brush!Aug 04, 2008
By fit_girl I have very fine, fragile hair and have always used cheap drugstore brushes to detangle it when wet (combs just seem to add more tangles). I heard good things about the Mason Pearson brand and my mother had a Mason Pearson boar bristle brush from the time she was a teenager to when I was in elementary school (>10 years). I ordered this brush as a replacement as my last brush was starting to fall apart and break my hair.
What you get: The brush arrives in a very nice, antique style box. The brush appears exactly as in the photos. The nylon bristle tufts are graduated in length and gentle to the skin, yet are firm and get to the scalp at the same time. There is another small, black square brush included that is intended to be used to clean the white brush of hair (a brush for a brush? Who knew?). Last but not least are instructions on the care and use of your brush.
Pros: Detangles my hair in just a few strokes, cut my styling time. Easy cleanup and maintenance (the little brush does a great job of getting all the hair out of the white brush). Feels solid to the touch and the old fashioned look of the brush has a nice aesthetic charm. I've had mine for about a month and no bristle loss.
Cons: There are a lot of warnings in the box about protecting the red rubber from excessive sunlight, chemicals, grease, oil, radioactive waste (just kidding!). If you have any of those things in your styling environment, this brush may not live as long for you. Also, this brush cannot be submerged in water due to it's design.
Overall impression: Cute, solid little detangling brush. Does a good job at what it's supposed to do on my fine hair. Just be careful if you have lots of stuff in your environment that might eat the rubber pad away.

The Mason Pearson Nylon Pocket Hair Brush.Jul 24, 2010
By mirasreviews The Mason Pearson Nylon Pocket brush is the smallest brush the company makes with nylon bristles. It's 6 7/8 inches (17.5 cm) long, including the handle, and the bristles occupy and area about 2 ΒΌ x 4 inches (6 x 10 cm). The "dark ruby" plastic handle looks like a very dark brown; you can only see the red cast if light is shining through it. The nylon bristle brushes are for thick hair. (The boar's bristle models are for thin hair, and the bristle/nylon models are for normal hair.) I bought the nylon pocket model, because I need metal or plastic bristles for my thick hair, and I was looking for a smaller brush that I can easily manipulate for styling small sections of hair.
Although I didn't intend to, I ended up using this as my main hairbrush, because it leaves my hair smoother and shinier than any other brush I've used. It must have something to do with the style of the bristles, which are two different lengths, with four bristles per hole and nearly 180 holes. About 750 bristles total, grouped in sets of four. Apparently, Mr. Mason Pearson, a London brushmaker, invented the rubber-cushion hairbrush in 1885. Nice to know. Though this brush is not sturdy enough for my thick hair when it's wet (the bristles are too flexible), it is the best hairbrush I've used on dry hair. It's a must-have if you have thick hair and wear it down long. It will shine.

No more tanglesJul 26, 2007
By P. Dillon This brush is amazing!! I have very long hair and after a shampoo, it is always difficult to comb my hair. I have used various detangling products in the past, but nothing compares to this brush. It works great on wet or dry hair, plusit so gentle on my hair. I know you are suppost to comb wet hair, not brush it, but try this brush. You will be amazed.
