Ummmm...use cones (and a little common sense).Nov 29, 2010
By K. Barlow This is a great burner. It looks good on the shelf even when you are not burning incense. That being said, please ignore the reviews that point out problems with stick incense. This burner uses cone incense. This is clear by the shape of the burner, the configuration of the base, and the documentation that clearly stated "for use with cone incense". Anyone who would put sticks in this thing should not be allowed to play with fire in the first place. I have had this burner for five years and i love it so much i am buying my daughter one this year for Christmas. Good thing I raised her to be bright enough to use cones.....

whimsical and hilariousAug 18, 2004

This whimsical piece of art is a fun way to burn incense without having an exposed burning ember where you can get burned. The face on the tree reminds me of the walking trees in "Lord of the Rings." An object like this could easily lean toward the ultimate in tacky - but the whimsical expression in the eyes of the tree offset the tacky element, as long as surrounding knick-knacks aren't to whimsical or off the beaten path.

Cute, but of limited use.Nov 03, 2008
By Silvia I really liked the idea behind this incense burner. I hate it when the ashes fall on the table or the floor (and risk burning the house down) and I thought this burner would be the perfect solution. I also liked the way it looks. Unfortunately, it only works well with small cone-shaped incense, and even then you first need to let the incense burn uncovered for a little while before covering it with the tree burner. Any larger kind of incense will go out at any stage when covered by the burner. I guess no enough air is allowed in. Also, most incense sticks are too long to fit inside this burner. You need to either cut them down or let them burn half-way through before using this. I would not recommend it, unless you only use small incense cones.

Terrible!Jan 26, 2009

Any incense you try will not stay lit in the tree. It's more just a pain and also the bottom of the incense holder wont stay in tact.
