I bought one of these three years ago and put it in my backyard. I put it beside a path that goes to the back fence. I put it at the side of the path so that the glow of this stepping stone would mark the pathway for me.
I really wanted two of them, one for each side of the path so the pathway would have clear demarcation. But, first, I wanted to see if the one really, truly did glow. If not, I could just as easily put a stake with a light on it beside the path. So, I waited for a nice sunny day and checked the stone.
It did glow. Not very brightly, but it did glow. There was certainly enough glow to mark the boundaries of my path for me. I figured that was all under control, ordered the second stepping stone and put it in place. This was in the early summer of 2008. My path was lighted for an entire summer. All was well in my backyard world!
Then fall and winter came through. Both are mild. I live in AZ and freeze to death if it is 65 degrees or below.
Spring blew in as it its wont. My stepping stones no longer glowed. I do not think any our our weather caused this, the glow just wore off, so to speak. The stones remain in place, but one evening, I tripped coming back from the fence and landed flat on my face. Nothing was hurt except my pride. But now I have a little orange scraf tied to a stake in the ground so I can clearly see where the path and the patio join.
Kind of tacky actually. I noted it this evening when I was feeding the outside cat and thought I really ought to replace those stones. So I went to Amazon to see what I could find.
While looking for another type of lighted stone, I browsed across this and decided to write a review. I gave this three stars as it is a nice stone; though, neither of my glowed more than 5 months. It certainly wears well. The two stones I have are weathered just a bit, but look very good when I realize they have withstood three summers of 115 degree heat. It is also nice and thick and will easily hold your weight if you walk on it. If you just want an earthy looking, nice stepping stone, this one is fine. If you want a glowing stone, you will have to go on a search with me. So far I have not located one (December 2011).

They look nice at night. I ordered 3 piece. packaging is good. When I opened them, a star fall off right away. I glue it back and hope it will stay. The 'stone' is very thin(1/3 inch). Careful with the lawn mower moving around them. I have one being damaged already.

I ordered this at a price that cannot be beat. Thanks Amazon! It is an addition to a new celestial "wing" in my garden and is just perfect. Pretty day and night. Very sturdy. I recommend.

This is the cutest little stone. We set it up against the side of the inside of the porch and it glows in the dark. Lots of comments how cute it is. And so unusual. We are very pleased with the purchase

This seller breached an implied warrant of fitness for the item's intended use. The seller represented this product is suitable for outdoor use. That representation creates an implied warranty of fitness for the intended use. It is not fit for outdoor use. Before buying this item, Astral Stepping Stone, [and Sun\Moon stepping stone], I asked if it was durable enough to be placed outside. I was assured by the seller it was suited to the outdoors. It is not - within 6 mos of placing it outside, the surface began to disintegrate and discolor, rendering the stepping stone useless, unattractive and ultimately it was suitable only for my garbage. The seller was contacted and he\she said: "Our posted policy for damaged/defective items is 30 days. We unfortunately have no warranty on the products after that period has passed. Since this order was placed last April, there is unfortunately nothing we can do to resolve this that would not be at an additional cost to you."
30 days in insufficient time to determine if a stepping stone is suitable for outdoor use or defective for the intended purpose.
Avoid these products and this seller's 'customer service policies' by shopping elsewhere or with more service oriented products and services than this seller, Furniture Creations, Internet Sales Dept. They do not stand behind what they sell.
