Just what I wanted!Mar 06, 2012
By Bad Golfer My "turtle" was just what I wanted for hiding a key. However, it was so cute that so far, I have kept it on my desk as a paperweight. Eventually, it will be used as intended. Happy with my purchase.
Totally rustedJul 25, 2011

I bought this key hider a couple of years ago when I was going through multiple surgeries. People were forever dropping by for this and than and P.T. and Nursing came, so I needed a place to hide my key. I live in a retirement area where we all have silly little doodads sitting around by our front doors and in our landscape architecture, so I thought this was just the thing to have. In fact, it looked so cute that I got one for a friend who also needed to hide a key. What a terrible idea that turned out to be. Both of us recieved our litle turtles promptly, and both of us immediately decided that the turtle was no secure place to hide a key. The top of the turtle sits right on top and has no locking mechanism, so anyone happening by can pick up your key. So, unless you have a LOT of yard art and someone knows exactly WHERE to go to find this, then it is just not practical. I had a bunny and a turtle at my door, but they were blue, not brown, so the turtle went to live in the back yard by the pond. I figured that, if it wasn't functional, it might as well be beautiful. Well, it sat by the pond for 6 months and in 6 months it was totally rusted over. It is not rusted out, but it is rusted over. So, I went to Home Depot and for $3.52 bought a can of spray paint to decorate the turtle. I just did not get to it and the turtle sits by the pond in its rusted state. Somday, I MIGHT do it. But you can see the progress of this item. It is worthless for what it was intended to be: a key holder. No money would ever be safe in it and my friend and I both decided that keys were not safe in it. Then it became an art object. Then, it failed as an art object. Now, it is a chore waiting to be done. Not a good progression of events for something that is supposed to be useful. I will give it two stars only because I am loathe to say "I hate it" which is what one star implies. I don't hate it yet anyway. Another 6 months and I might. Possibly the trash is the best place for it.

By O. Martin It is cute and serves its purpose! We paid a lot for the shipping though and it can be found on a few other websites for cheaper. (now I know)
