Cheap paint, beautiful glassNov 06, 2010

First off, the photo is *not* accurate.
The glass is a darker amber, and the metal frame is a terribly tacky botch job of light beige, pinks, and browns. The style itself is beautiful, as are the glass panels. I will be taking the panels out and repainting the frame a dark bronze to better match the panels.
Seems to be sturdy otherwise, and I do like that the tea-candle holder is suspended, allowing light to shine below as well as throughout the rest of the lantern.
In general, it's a good little lantern, just beware the metal framing it is poorly painted and looks cheap! A little bronzed spray paint, or bronze rub will fix it up properly. For me, it's a lot easier to just repaint than return.

Bad PaintDec 08, 2009
By Emily June Squires Very bad paint job, globs of pink, brown, and burnt yellow splashed all over it. Looks very cheap! Nothing like the shiny antique looking metal shown in the pictures. I would have never bought this had I have seen what it really looks like. I plan to take out the glass and repaint it myself.

Hey, for $9, what do you want?Feb 07, 2011
By myfunnyvalentine I read the reviews before buying this lamp, and yes, the finish does look cheap. Hey, for $9, what do you want? But the deep yellow glass panels look fabulous in a sunny window and the shape of the lamp is what's beautiful. Very medieval. I may hang it outside and let it rust for awhile if it gets on my nerves. In the meantime, I am enjoying just looking at it.

It's beautiful.Mar 19, 2010
By Kim Manuel Better quality than I expected. It doesn't give off a lot of light its more for ambiance. Romantic.

Good Lantern + New Paint = Great LanternAug 23, 2011
By Razzle Dazzle When we received this lantern we were happy with the quality of the glass and the sturdiness of the metal. As others have said, the paint job isn't the best, but we removed the glass (which was quite easy), and painted the rest of the lantern with a dull gold spray paint. Now it looks incredibly nice and is a truly unique decoration.
